UK Parliament and Legislation

This course gives an overview of the UK Parliament and comparison with the Parliament of Kenya. It covers the difference between UK Parliament and the Government, the makeup of the House of Commons and the House of Lords and how voting works. Delegates will gain a good understanding of Parliament, legislation, passage of bills and the role of select committees. It includes a tour of parliament, Question time or committee session.

Who is this for?

This course is designed for MPs, civil servants and public sector staff who engage with UK Parliament and would benefit from understanding how it works. This course is also useful for those outside of the public sector and would like to understand how the legislative process works and how they can contribute.

What will you learn...

Training consultant

The course will be delivered by Huw Edwards, former Member of UK Parliament. Huw served as the MP for Monmouth for nine years and served as a consultant on parliament and democratic governance. He has extensive experience of delivering training to MPs across the Commonwealth.
