What is the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification?
The APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) is a knowledge-based qualification developed by Association for Project Management (APM), the chartered body for the project profession. The PFQ is the first step in the APM suite of certifications and provides:

  • A fundamental awareness of project management terminology
  • A broad understanding of the principles of the profession
  • The knowledge to make a positive contribution to any project.

Who is this qualification for?
It is for those wishing to gain a broad understanding of the principles of the profession. No prior knowledge or experience is required for this qualification, which will offer the individual the knowledge to make a positive contribution to any project.

This course would benefit:

  • Aspiring project managers
  • Project support (e.g. project and programme office personnel)
  • Operational line managers/staff

How is it assessed?
You can take the Project Fundamentals Qualification through a 60-question, multiple-choice examination, taken over one hour. You can sit the examination online either in a classroom or on your own premises utilising our remote live invigilator. You can book your examination at a time to suit you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 360 days a year.

What is assessed?
The APM Project Fundamentals Qualification, syllabus assesses the key elements of the project management life cycle and covers knowledge areas from the APM Body of Knowledge 7th edition , including planning and scheduling, communication, teamwork, resource management, project risk management and project reviews.
